Clodagh Friel
BIO
Clodagh Friel is based in Ireland. She supports people navigatingspiritual emergence and spiritual emergency, as well as challenging, destabilising or transformative experiences arising through non-ordinary statesof consciousness. Her approach brings together lived experience with trainingin transpersonal approaches to consciousness, psychological development, psychedelic integration and embodied approaches to healing.
Clodagh's interest in this work is deeply informed by lived experience.Following a period of personal and spiritual crisis beginning in 2015, sheentered a sustained process of recovery and self-exploration. Her encounterwith Holotropic Breathwork in 2017 became an important part of that journey andled to a deeper exploration of non-ordinary states of consciousness, transpersonal psychology, and the relationship between psychological healingand spiritual development.
She has particular experience supporting experiences arising throughHolotropic and Grof® Breathwork, psychedelics and other non-ordinary states, aswell as periods of intense psychological, existential or spiritualtransformation. Her work emphasises grounding, discernment, meaning-making andintegration—helping people explore their experience within the wider context oftheir psychological history, relationships, body, spirituality and everydaylife.
Alongside individual preparation and integration work, Clodagh hasexperience facilitating Holotropic Breathwork workshops and integration groups. She has facilitated Holotropic Breathwork in Ireland and Portugal and hasdeveloped an extensive network within the Holotropic Breathwork and Grof LegacyTraining communities.
Her approach does not assume that an unusual or extraordinary experienceis either inherently pathological or inherently spiritual. Instead, she seeksto create a grounded and compassionate space in which the individual'sexperience can be explored with curiosity and discernment, while recognisingwhen additional psychological, psychiatric or medical support may beappropriate.
At the centre of Clodagh's work is respect for the individual's ownprocess. Rather than imposing an interpretation on an experience, she supportspeople in developing their own understanding of what has emerged and findingways to integrate it meaningfully into their lives.
